Congratulations on joining the legions of us who can't go anywhere without the written word directly in front of us. I have a Nook (my brother works at B&N) and within a day of getting it I had seventy e-books on it. I feel like I should attend a meeting, stand up, and say, "My name is Amanda, and I'm an e-book-aholic."
Woot for e-readers! I'm a nook gal, myself, but whatever the device, it's definitely cool to read my crit partner's stuff in the same place I'm rereading my favorite classics (Pride and Prejudice, of course).
Ooooh, congrats! I love my kindle and despite the controversy constantly swirling about printed vs. online books, I find that it has carved out a new niche in my life rather than replacing traditional paper books. I think you'll enjoy it - if you don't end up working 10X more because of it:)
Congrats on your fun new toy. I've had mine for a few months and really like it. Tip: Just got a pink leather cover on Ebay for less than $20. They had lots of choices.
Yeah, the BF finally got a nook after several weeks of agonizing comparison between Kindle and Nook. Now he'll have plenty of reading to keep him occupied during his year overseas. I have to say, for travel and for applications like reading submissions on your lunch break, it's pretty darn cool. We're planning a trip to Thailand in 2012, so I might have to get one of my own. I can't sleep on planes, and I'll need a lot of reading to keep me busy for sixteen hours.
Have fun with that newfangled downfall of the print industry! ;)
I love mine! Especially for beta reading... I just send the file to my Kindle and I can beta read anywhere... there's nothing like holding an actual book, but wow, it's so nice and light weight for travel.
I've found e-readers much more readable than a book, if only for the backlighting and large print. (Does that mean I'm old? :-)) But I've grown to love just being able to turn the page with a tap on the screen. Mine is the Kindle app, though, so I've only tested out the actual Kindle briefly. On the iPad, it's even more amazing.
Cool, I hope you enjoy it. I am still resisting and at this point I don't ever see myself getting one. IF the day comes when they stop printing books, I'll download the file and print it myself (I have an industrial size copy machine/network printer lol)

PS. I haven't forgotten about you. I'm going to send you my sub. Work has just kinda gotten in the way of me making those changes I told you I wanted to do before I sent it to you...sorry for the delay.
Just in time for the post NaNo craziness you are sure to get! #idontenvyyou #okaymaybeidoalittle
ReplyDeleteOh noooo! You just might be working even *more* now!!! ;) But congrats. That's awesome. (And that picture was hilarious.)

ReplyDeleteHahahaha! Love the LOLCAT.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading your likes and dislikes--I will probably cave-in as well and purchase an e-reader.
ReplyDeleteAHHH! I'm still avoiding it...I may have to cave. Let us know if you love it or hate it

Congrats! :D Love the lolcat. haha!
ReplyDeleteI will never give in...but hey, yea for you!!! I am sure with your job it makes reading much easier.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture.

I considered kindle, but I'm too technologically retarded to figure it out.
ReplyDeleteI'm voting with what Pk Hrezo said. There's something significant about seeing a beta book "in print," even if it is only on my Sony eBook.

Fabulous LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'm still debating getting a Kindle. Let me know how you like it!
