Love/Hate Wednesday

LOVE

Picture books, especially when they just CLICK.

It's always so hard to explain this; but when I see a picture book I love, I know it almost instantly (though, that doesn't mean I offer rep instantly; I still take my time to review an author's other work, check my gut, etc). Take a look at this one that just sold at auction.

Are you not salivating to get your hands on this book?!?

Admittedly, I'm drawn to simplicity in text with surprising and unique artwork; it doesn't have to be crazy and complex to work! Take a look at my picture book tips, too.

HATE

Pregnancy brain.

IT'S A REAL THING.

Oh, I need to remember to do a love/hate this coming...NOPE.
That editor, you know, the one with the...NOPE.
I need to do X. I need to do X. I need to do...uh....NOPE.

Sigh. Having to get used to to-do lists for my to-do lists and writing things down IMMEDIATELY or it is so very, very lost. >:(

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

  1. When I was pregnant, I lost my ability to write. Couldn't write even a shopping list to save my life. All my creative energy went to making a baby.

In the last three weeks of my first pregnancy, I was bored out of my head. I couldn't write, couldn't do music, couldn't sew, couldn't paint, couldn't do any of the creative things with which I normally fill my life.

Thank goodness my Creativity came back after I'd finished gestating.

  2. focus on the job is the most important thing, to get maximum results. Relaxed attitude as they do at work and do not have targets will only bring us to the failure that has no end

  3. Yep, my brain turned to mush during my first pregnancy--especially in the third trimester. I couldn't write anything. My creative juices didn't kick in again until about five months post-birth, but then it was a flood of writing. With my second, I just kept plugging onward, though it was slower going. You'll get your brain back eventually--or most of it, anyway. ;) I think there's a part that just stays forever with the kids, lol.

Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving!!
